Frequently Noted. Typical methods of neonaticide are suffocation,
strangulation, head trauma (usually from dropping into a toilet), and drowning
(in the receptacle where the birth occurs). Use of weapons in neonaticide, such
as knives, is more indicative of serious mental illness in the mother. At the
same time, involvement of an accomplice sup- ports the likelihood of organized,
premeditated calculation in effecting the child’s death and concealing it.
