Crime Classification Manual Part II Chapter 6 B 85

A STANDARD SYSTEM FOR INVESTIGATING AND CLASSIFYING VIOLENT CRIMES

SECOND EDITION

Investigative Considerations

It is important to work the case as a robbery and not a murder. Any known robbery suspects with similar MOs should be scrutinized. The offender of an indiscriminate felony murder is usually a youthful male with a criminal his- tory (history of auto theft appears especially prevalent). This offender often travels on foot to the crime scene because he lives in the area of the crime.
