return, Benson convinced his mother and his brother, Scott, to come along on
the outing, despite his mother’s brief resistance to the idea. Benson arranged
the seating, placing Scott in the driver’s seat, the spot he usually occupied.
He placed his mother in the front passenger seat where his sister, Carol Lynn,
usually sat because she had a problem with carsickness. He placed Carol Lynn in
the back, behind Scott.
