The
precipitating event of the dispute was some money that the offender had
borrowed from the victim three weeks earlier. The offender had promised
repayment several times but had failed to fulfill his promises. The offender was
also very drunk when the victim began yelling at him and declaring his
unreliability to the other bar patrons. The exchange became physical and
culminated with the shooting.
Outcome
The offender
pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to fifteen years.
