Indicators Frequently Noted. Religious influence on a crime is reflected in
religious symbols and messages at the crime scene. These may include artifacts
left behind, religious references in notes, even corpse defacement. Other
ritualistic features may be present, from the use of the victim’s blood to the
presence of other material unrelated to and unnecessary for the commission of
the crime.
