Crime Classification Manual Part II Chapter 6 D 59
A STANDARD SYSTEM FOR INVESTIGATING
AND CLASSIFYING VIOLENT CRIMES SECOND EDITION
The
precipitating event that links the victim and offender is the key point of this
investigation. However, this event may hold significance only to the offender
and not be obvious to those associated with the offender or victim. It may not
be obvious to the investigator either. Also of importance is any significant
person in either the offender’s or the victim’s life who may have direct or
indirect involvement with the incident.
