Crime Classification Manual Part II Chapter 6 F 67
A STANDARD
SYSTEM FOR INVESTIGATING AND CLASSIFYING VIOLENT CRIMES SECOND EDITION
After the
abduction, the offender made several phone calls to the family and conversed
primarily with the victim’s older sister. He used an electronic device to
disguise his voice because, he indicated, he was known to the family. These
calls continued after the victim’s death. The offender would make references to
a letter—the victim’s last will and testament he had sent to them. Although the
victim died shortly after her abduction, he led the family to believe the
victim was still alive until they found the body, a week later.
