Several neighbors of the victim (and suspect) called police to report that a person who closely resembled the sketch lived in their neighborhood. Further investigation revealed this subject exactly matched the profile. The police again consulted the ISU for interrogation techniques to be used with this subject. As a result, seventeen-year-old Joseph Rogers confessed and then reenacted the crime for investigators.
