Crime Classification Manual Part II Chapter 6 G 39
A STANDARD
SYSTEM FOR INVESTIGATING AND CLASSIFYING VIOLENT CRIMES SECOND EDITION
The case
received a great amount of criticism, most notably from appeal lawyer Jordan
Steiker, who felt Hammond had not received a fair trial: he was not allowed to
testify, pertinent family background information was not introduced
(specifically, he witnessed his own father being murdered by his brother), and
he suffered audio and visual hallucinations. Denied clemency, Karl Hammond was
put to death by injection on June 22, 1995, when he was thirty years old.
