Crime Classification Manual Part II Chapter 6 G 66
A STANDARD
SYSTEM FOR INVESTIGATING AND CLASSIFYING VIOLENT CRIMES SECOND EDITION
Bittaker and
Norris felt well prepared after spending the first half of 1979 outfitting the
van with a twin-size mattress supported by wood and plywood, tools, clothes,
and a cooler. They had carefully selected a remote area in the San Gabriel
Mountains above the city of Glendora. It was a gated fire road that Bittaker
secured with his own lock, added insurance that they would be left undisturbed.
In addition, they had picked up more than twenty hitchhikers, not attacking any
of them, but simply rehearsing for the right day.
