Crime Classification Manual Part II Chapter 6 H 13
A STANDARD
SYSTEM FOR INVESTIGATING AND CLASSIFYING VIOLENT CRIMES SECOND EDITION
Although the
elderly in general are considered to be at low risk for be- coming crime
victims, elderly white females, particularly those living alone, are at an
elevated risk in this type of homicide. Because they live alone, their risk
level is situationally elevated, and they are thus perceived to be vulnerable
by their offenders. The offender also perceives his risk to be lower.
