Interviewing arrested offenders should focus on the financial gain aspect of the crime and avoid (at least initially) the sexual assault component. The interviews should be one-on-one, avoiding multiple interviewers. The inter- viewer should take a soft and empathetic approach despite the heinous nature of the homicide.
