Finally, nearly half of the offenders confessed to the crime subsequent to their arrest, while another 19 percent made some kind of an admission relative to the crime yet continued to deny responsibility for the homicide. In terms of racial differences, whites were observed to have confessed nearly twice as often as blacks.
