The victim
was a feisty woman who had confronted an intruder in the house just two days before
her death. She told her sister that during the night, she had awakened to see
the intruder and threatened to “poke him full of holes” if he did not leave.
She then struck him with a broom handle. She never reported the burglary
attempt to the police.
