Offender Characteristics

Dan, age twenty-five, came from a broken home and lived until age six with a foster family. His natural mother abandoned the family when Dan was three. When his father remarried, Dan went to live with his father and step- mother. The stepmother was a severe disciplinarian who burned Dan’s fingers with a cigarette lighter when she caught him smoking.
