The threat
generally outlines a set of prescribed behaviors that must be met in order for
the victim to avoid possible harm. It often includes words or phraseology such
as “if you want to avoid . . .” or “unless you follow my instructions . . .”
For example, a walk- in patient demanded of the on-call psychiatrist, “If you
don’t give me a pre- scription for Xanax, I’m going to tear this office apart.”
