The purpose of stalking resides in the mind of stalkers, who are compulsive individuals with a misperceived fixation. Stalking is the result of an underlying emotional conflict that propels the offender to stalk or harass a target. Targets of stalkers often feel trapped in an environment filled with anxiety, stress, and fear, which often results in their having to make drastic adjustments in how they live.
