Crimes involving the computer have emerged as a new class of crimes. The U.S. Attorney’s Office’s Computer Hacking and Intellectual Property Section (CHIPS) was created to prosecute high-technology and intellectual property offenses, including computer intrusions, denial of service attacks, virus and worm proliferation, Internet fraud, and telecommunications fraud.
