the hospital included pancreatic traumatic injury and peritonitis. Her pancreas
had been severed in half, and the necrotic part of it was removed. Her spleen
was removed. She was treated for postsurgical hypo- insulinemia and
postoperative infection. Over her two-week hospital stay, she told staff of the
domestic violence.
